Tyczka Energie and CropEnergies founded a new joint venture in order to produce liquid carbondioxid
Together with CropEnergies AG (located in Mannheim, a subsidiary of Süd Zucker AG) Tyczka Energie GmbH is goint to built a new LCO
2 plant in Zeitz. The new plant will be owned by CT Biocarbonic GmbH, a new joint venture owned by both shareholders. The plant for the liquefaction, purification and recovery of carbon dioxide is located in the immediate proximity of the CropEnergies bioethanol facility in Zeitz (Burgenlandkreis county – southern Saxony-Anhalt) and will benefit from the existing infrastructure. The raw material used will be biogenic CO
2 from CropEnergies’ bioethanol production process which forms during the fermentation of grain and sugar syrups into bioethanol. The plant will have an annual capacity of 100.000 tons. The press release was published on May, 26th and can be downloaded by the following link.

The liquified CO
2 will be marketed exclusively by Tyczka Kohlensäure GmbH&Co KG, a 100% subsidiary of Tyczka Energie. The new plant will provide the basis for Tyczka Kohlensäure to create new sales in Eastern Germany and to ensure a save supply for customers in the rest of Germany. Start-up of the plant will be in the second quarter 2010. Frank Götzelmann (member of the management board of Tyczka Energie): “By making this investment in Zeitz, the Tyczka Group is not only securing a sustainable and long-term source of carbon dioxide at an attractive location but, at the same time, is also laying the foundation for further expansion of its market position in central Europe.”
