Together with CropEnergies AG (located in Mannheim, a subsidiary of Süd Zucker AG) Tyczka Energie GmbH is goint to built a new LCO₂ plant in Zeitz. The new plant will be owned by CT Biocarbonic GmbH, a new joint venture owned by both shareholders. The plant for the liquefaction, purification and recovery of carbon dioxide is located in the immediate proximity of the CropEnergies bioethanol facility in Zeitz (Burgenlandkreis county – southern Saxony-Anhalt) and will benefit from the existing infrastructure. The raw material used will be biogenic CO₂ from CropEnergies’ bioethanol production process which forms during the fermentation of grain and sugar syrups into bioethanol. The liquified CO₂ will be marketed exclusively by Tyczka Kohlensäure GmbH&Co KG, a 100% subsidiary of Tyczka Energie. The new plant will provide the basis for Tyczka Kohlensäure to create new sales in Eastern Germany and to ensure a save supply for customers in the rest of Germany. Start-up of the plant will be in the second quarter 2010.
